Ive of all time had a fascination with dialogue. No take what it is that I am watching or reading or even witnessing in the hallway, or on the street, I mean the conversations. Because dialogue is what makes life and film and television and books entertaining. It trumps an exciting plot, or great description, or even an amazing setting. It brings the characters, the people, to life.
Ive never had a problem making friends, or being popular, or even doing well in my classes.
What I have struggled with, what has unendingly been an issue for me, ironically given my fascination with other peoples language, is voice.
Ive always found myself somewhat silenced. I am the essence child, and that has afforded to me a certain quietness, lost between my older comrades passionate arguments and persuasive pleas and my younger brothers enthusiastically voiced needs and desires.
Justin was a champion arguer in high school and outside of it. In our conversations, I found his examples, his comments to be infinitely better than mine. And he always got the last word. He left me speechless at the moment, and confused when I thought up the perfect thing to severalise ten minutes later.
