The Mystery of Disguise
Although the motion-picture show 10 Things I Hate About You displays some deceptive moments, deception is the key motive in The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare. Both physically and emotionally, The Taming of the Shrew captivates deception within the ascendency of disguise.
Shakespeare’s play The Taming of the Shrew tells the story of two daughters in which the eldest must get married before the youngest. The minuscule Bianca has no deficiency of admirers (Gremio, Hortensio, and Lucentio), unless Baptista, her loving father, demands that she not bind until her shrewish sister Katherine becomes engaged. The many suitors to Bianca persuade the money esurient Petruchio to woo Katherine. There is also the objective of Katherine’s dowry. Petruchio ties the greyback with Katherine and takes her to his country house where he makes an attempt to tame her. He refuses her food, sleep, and revolutionary clothes, and, therefore by depriving her of all her necessities she becomes tame. Modified from William Shakespeare’s play The Taming of the Shrew, 10 Things I Hate About You begins with the new kid Cameron who has just arrived at Padua High. He is then introduced to Michael, the affectionate nerd, who gives him a tour of the school.
During his tour Cameron finally sees the beautiful Bianca, but there’s one problem, she isn’t permitted to escort. Kat and Bianca’s father create a house rule allowing Bianca to date if and only if her sister Kat has a date also. This places Cameron in a sticky situation, because in order for him to date Bianca he must find someone suitable for Kat, which is almost impossible. Cameron, leftover with no choice, now has to enlist the help of Joey, the rich snob, who tricks him into accept that if he pays someone to take Kat out, he allow for win Bianca. Joey chooses Patrick, a mysterious boy, who in the end tames Kat.
