This paper discusses the book Hurry Down Sunshine by Michael Greenberg (2008). He tells the story of his young ladys plight with mental illness and its effect on the family unit as a whole. One in five children and adolescents in the United States suffer from a major mental illness that causes significant impairment in the home, at school, with peers, and in the community. Two thirds of young hatful with mental health problems are not receiving services that are needed (Varacolis, 2010, p. 627).
